Si chacune de ces ann\u00e9es repr\u00e9sente un moment particulier, il n&#8217;en demeure pas moins que les trois doivent susciter un d\u00e9bat unique. La premi\u00e8re (1767) l\u00e8gue l\u2019amertume, la deuxi\u00e8me (1954) octroie la foi et la troisi\u00e8me (1975) accorde l\u2019autonomie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"226\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pappost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ezgif.com-video-to-gif-1-1.gif?resize=480%2C226&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1050\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>1767 :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Le premier village africain de Bas-Limb\u00e9 a vu le jour en 1767, sous l\u2019ordonnance du colon fran\u00e7ais, Paul Blain (Belin) de Villeneuve, qui a obtenu de la cour royale le droit de cr\u00e9er sa premi\u00e8re sucrerie. Il est assist\u00e9 par d\u2019autres colons planteurs tels que Courcival, Brouill\u00e9, Mondion, Farges et Petit-Howard qui eux s\u2019adonnent uniquement \u00e0 la culture des denr\u00e9es. Monsieur Normand de M\u00e9zy, lui, y installe une compagnie de la chaux qui est devenue la plus rentable de la colonie. Donc, le village a v\u00e9cu comme les autres r\u00e9gions du pays, l\u2019\u00e8re troublante de l\u2019esclavage dans une double r\u00e9alit\u00e9 : l\u2019enfer des noirs et le paradis des blancs. Ces noirs sont majoritairement des Kongos suivis par des Dahomey, des Igbo et des Guin\u00e9ens. Ces pauvres ont enrichi de leur sang et leur sueur les familles fran\u00e7aises de la m\u00e9tropole pendant pr\u00e8s d\u2019un si\u00e8cle.&nbsp; Au nom du premier village, le Bas-Limb\u00e9 comm\u00e9more son 253 eme anniversaire en cette ann\u00e9e 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>1954 :\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 1954, le Bas-Limb\u00e9 disposait d\u2019une chapelle qui pouvait recevoir la visite du cur\u00e9 du Limb\u00e9. Dans l\u2019intervalle, les catholiques de Petit-Howard ont d\u00fb parcourir 9 kilom\u00e8tres et ceux de Normand 12 kilom\u00e8tres pour se faire \u00ab communier \u00bb, chanter les fun\u00e9railles des proches et baptiser leurs enfants. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9vidence, nombreuses familles Bas-Limb\u00e9\u00e9nnes ont construit leurs tombeaux au Limb\u00e9; leurs actes naissances y sont aussi enregistr\u00e9s.&nbsp; En 1954, le r\u00e9v\u00e9rend Smith Lamour, originaire de Sainte Suzanne, fut choisi par l\u2019\u00e9v\u00each\u00e9 du Cap d\u2019alors pour \u00eatre le premier cur\u00e9. P\u00e8re Lamour est arriv\u00e9 avec euphorie. Les religieux sont all\u00e9s le rencontrer au Limb\u00e9. Les nouveaux paroissiens \u00e0 pied et lui \u00e0 cheval sous de sinc\u00e8res applaudissements. Ils ont parcouru les neuf kilom\u00e8tres en chantant et en criant \u00e0 chaque fois: bienvenue p\u00e8re Lamour, bienvenue p\u00e8re Lamour ! C\u2019est dans cette atmosph\u00e8re qu\u2019est n\u00e9e la paroisse du Bas-Limb\u00e9 et Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel est adopt\u00e9e comme patronne. Le 16 juillet 1954, la jeune paroisse a eu sa premi\u00e8re messe. \u00c0 cet effet, elle f\u00eate cette ann\u00e9e son 66 \u00e8me anniversaire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>1975 :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Des Bas-Limb\u00e9ens s\u2019engageaient \u00e0 retirer leur quartier du joug du Limb\u00e9. Ils r\u00e9pondaient aux noms de Paul Luc Pierre, Granville Sylvain, Odilon Saint-Amour, Vermont Etienne, Therony Pierre, pour citer un nombre chiche. En 1975, leur r\u00eave est devenu r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Le gouvernement dictatorial de Jean-Claude Duvalier a r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 leur demande et a fait du quartier du Bas-Limb\u00e9 la 2eme commune de l\u2019arrondissement du Limb\u00e9. Un an apr\u00e8s, soit en 1976, le moniteur a publi\u00e9 l\u2019arr\u00eat\u00e9 pr\u00e9sidentiel qui consacre le Bas-Limb\u00e9 comme commune et lui donne tous les droits accompagnateurs. Certes, il fallait attendre l\u2019an 1987 pour que la commune \u00e9lise (sans suffrage universel direct) son premier maire Joseph Amos Cherenfant, mais le Bas-Limb\u00e9 jouissait depuis 1976 du statut de commune g\u00e9ographiquement connue. La \u00ab Commune \u00bb f\u00eate son 44 \u00e8me anniversaire&nbsp; cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Les trois dates historiques du Bas-Limb\u00e9 font de lui une r\u00e9gion unique du nord d\u2019Ha\u00efti.&nbsp; Un village qui engendre une paroisse et la paroisse accouche d\u2019une commune. Bas-Limb\u00e9 est un orgueil.
